Istanbul’s metro service is growing fast, making it easy to get around the city efficiently and quickly. At Hotel Büyük Keban, we are very happy with two new lines that have opened up to us at the nearby Yenikapi station, helping our guests get from one part of the city to another hassle-free.
New Metro Lines in an Old City
One can imagine the challenges of creating new metro lines in an old city where excavations lead to archeological discoveries that further reveal Istanbul’s deep history. Our metro, the Istanbul Metrosu, has 62 stations in service, connecting the city from the European to the Asian side and all points within the two.
The M2 and the Marmaray Line
The recent opening of the M2 at Yenikapi Station has been a great boon to getting travellers around the city. With the Marmaray line now connecting to the M2 at Yenikapi Station, the transit system extends from Sishne Square, near Tünel Square in Beyoglu across the Golden Horn to Yenikapi. Commuters can travel between Yenikapi, Beyoglu, Taksim Square, and Sisil and go as far as Haciosman on the European side of the Bosphorus in one easy shot. The trip between the European and Asian sides of the city is less than 14 minutes in either direction thanks to the Marmaray line.
Stay Out Late!
Enjoying Istanbul’s amazing nightlife is easy, as our metro and tram system runs from approximately six in the morning to just past midnight or 1 am, depending on the line and where you are going. Taxis are always available too, but with our sophisticated transit lines, you can find a remarkably economical way to hop from one part of town to another as you discover restaurants, bars, cafes, dives, lounges and clubs of all sorts. Traveling to and from the Hotel Büyük Keban is a cinch, as it is only a mere five-minute walk from the hotel to the Yenikapi station, which also takes you to the Asian side of town.
Great Location, Excellent Amenities
Our hotel is located in the popular Laleli area, right in the historic city center of European Istanbul. The area is filled with cultural and business attractions, which makes it a great base when visiting Istanbul. Our proximity to so many points of interest, including must-sees like the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi, and the Grand Bazaar, makes us an amazingly convenient choice. The Vezneciler stop on the M2 line, which is the closest one to Hotel Büyük Keban, will have you in the Taksim area in less than six minutes. We have recently remodeled, and we’re sure you’ll appreciate our comfortable and inviting rooms, in-house Turkish hammam, and sumptuous breakfast spread every morning.
Transit Right Outside the Door
Within just a few minutes’ walk, you have access to the Sehzade Leleli train station, the Sehzadebasi metro station, and the Aksaray tram station, and in just four minutes by metro you’ll arrive at the popular Taksim Square. With the convenience of transit right outside our doors, Hotel Büyük Keban is the perfect spot to stay, whether you’re here on business or pleasure.
